What is the Ad Widget?
The Ad Widget (also called the Ad Serving Widget) enables you to display advertisements from third-party ad platforms such as Vistar Media or Adomni directly within your NoviSign content. These external platforms let you create and manage advertising campaigns, while the Ad Widget allows you to integrate those campaigns into your digital signage display.
You can use the Ad Widget like any other widget inside a composed creative, or include it as a slide within a Slideshow Widget. However, placing it directly in a composed creative is generally the preferred method for better control and performance.
This widget acts as a placeholder that displays ads delivered from an external system.
The creative duration within the playlist will be the actual duration of the ad, not the default one or the one you manually set in the playlist edit mode.
How it works
In order to get it done, first you’ll need to open an account at the ad serving vendor’s website, in case you still do not have one. In that 3rd party vendor’s account of yours, you’ll be able to create advertisement campaigns. There are several parameters which you should pay attention in your ad serving account, as you will need those parameters to be used in your NoviSign Studio user account, in order to run your 3rd party ad campaign on the NoviSign digital signage platform. Once you did it, you might want to resize and replace the ad widget over the canvas. You can also add other widgets over that layout to compose a nice creative.
In the settings of each vendor type in the properties pane of the ad widget, there will be either an owner ID and/or actual campaign ID. If all devices of yours will run the same campaign ID, no problem. But if each devices should run a different campaign, then this value should be different in each creative – and you’ll have to create a different creative for each campaign or device. You will also have a device ID field or alike to choose a specific device. If you want to run different campaigns using the very same creative (not likely), you will need to use a data expression for that (complicated for beginners).
