Creatives Management

What is a Creative?

A Creative is the core piece of content you design and display using the NoviSign Studio.

There are two types of creatives:

  1. Simple Creative
This is a single image or video that you upload and turn into a creative. It cannot be edited (aside from changing its name), making it quick and easy to use.

  2. Composed Creative
This is a more advanced type of creative, made up of different areas—called zones—and built using multiple elements known as widgets (like text, images, videos, clocks, etc.).

To create a composed creative:

  • Click the “New Creative” button inside the Studio.

  • This opens the Creative Composer, a drag-and-drop tool where you’ll see a canvas that represents your screen.

  • You can then drag and drop widgets into the canvas to build a custom layout that fits your needs.

Getting Started with Creatives

The Creatives tab in NoviSign’s Studio is your main workspace for designing and building digital signage content. It offers an easy-to-use, yet powerful set of tools to help you create professional and engaging displays.

Here’s what you can do in the Creatives tab:

  • Templates: Start with ready-made templates or design your own from scratch.

  • Widgets & Elements: Add text, images, videos, slideshows, social media feeds, RSS feeds, and even HTML5 content.

  • Interactive Features: Create touch-screen experiences with buttons and navigation elements.

  • Design Tools: Enjoy a simple drag-and-drop editor with tools to manage layers, align items, and fine-tune your design.

  • Scheduling & Playlists: Set content to play at specific times or build playlists for continuous loops.

  • Preview & Test: Instantly preview your work and test interactive elements before publishing.

  • Advanced Features: Connect external data sources and use triggers to make your content dynamic.

  • Collaboration & Sharing: Share projects, assign user roles, and work together with your team.

  • Media Management: Keep your assets organized using the Media Library, complete with version control and metadata tagging.

The Creatives tab combines ease of use with advanced functionality, giving you everything you need to build stunning digital signage content—all in one place.

Creative Composer

Using the Creative Composer

The Creative Composer in NoviSign is where you design the actual content for your digital sign. It’s an intuitive workspace made up of four main parts:

  1. Widget Panel: Located on the left side, this panel contains 20+ drag-and-drop widgets you can use—such as text, images, videos, and more.

  2. Canvas: The central area where you build your content by dragging widgets from the left panel and arranging them.

  3. Properties Panel: Found on the right side, this is where you adjust settings and customize each widget.

  4. Preview: Quickly see how your content looks with a short, real-time preview.

Steps to Create Your Content

  1. In the Properties panel, open the “Fill” dropdown to set your background color.

  2. Drag a widget from the left panel and drop it onto the canvas.

  3. Resize and position the widget as needed.

  4. Use the Properties panel on the right to adjust widget settings like color, font, size, and more.
