Player Apps

NoviSign offers a variety of player apps—software used to display content on different hardware platforms. You might see us refer to these apps as a “player,” “app,” or “application” (even though “player” isn’t technically accurate, it’s commonly used).

A player app is the software that runs on your device to display your digital signage content. The format of the app depends on your device’s operating system.

For example, on Android-based devices (like Android TV boxes, tablets, kiosks, or smart displays with Android SoC), the player app is an APK file—the standard format for Android app installation.

NoviSign is hardware agnostic, meaning you can use almost any device that meets basic requirements. For example, you can install our Android APK on nearly any Android-based device you prefer.

Before buying multiple units of the same device, we strongly recommend:

• Consulting our support team to confirm that the hardware is:

  • Fully supported (either tested by us or meets necessary specs)

  • Suitable for your specific needs

• Or asking how to test the hardware yourself to ensure compatibility
