How to Change Your Creative from Landscape to Portrait
How to Change Your Creative from Landscape to Portrait
In most cases your content will be in landscape orientation (which means that the width is bigger than the height, just like a landscape picture in the museum). But in some cases, you’d like to have your digital signs to be in portrait orientation (which means that the width is smaller than the height, just like a portrait picture in the museum). This is also known as “rotated” or “portrait mode” and so on.
There are several ways to do that.
Use Portrait-Oriented Creatives
Create your content using portrait dimensions such as 9:16, 3:4, or 10:16 or change the dimensions of your creative to fit a portrait screen.
Also, check that your media player or SoC (Smart Display) supports screen rotation:
On Android, this setting is usually under Display (look for “Screen rotation,” “Screen direction,” or “Screen orientation”).
On Windows, screen rotation is supported by default.
In older Android versions, some apps can rotate content without rotating the entire screen.
On certain Android-based devices, you may need to:
– Change the “Player Orientation” setting in the NoviSign app to “Portrait”.
– In some cases, such devices may require flashing them with better firmware that supports screen rotation.
Rotate the Content Instead
If your device does not support screen rotation, you can create content that is already rotated:
This means the creative will look sideways during editing, but will appear correctly on a vertically-mounted screen.
Use the Widget Rotation feature (available in widgets like text, images, etc.) to manually rotate elements inside the creative.
