Linux operating system is very common operating system in the world.
Actually it is the last incarnation of the Unix operating system from the end of the 80’s and beginning of the 90’s, when someone wanted to unify everything with one operating system (and there you go that name “Unix”, unique, unify…).
Some consider Linux as operating system only for very smart people or for programmers and IT specialists, that’s why most people prefer Microsoft Windows and MacOS for their working stations.
In the digital signage world, Linux has an advantage as a slim operating system.
You can find versions of Linux (Linux is an open source operating system, just like Android, so anyone can create his own version of Linux by tweaking it) on some of the media players.
A very common hardware is the Raspberry PI (with all of its versions).
This is a super cheap little computer or miniPC, which can be used as a media player for displaying digital signage.
